Second Hand Saints
God in His eternal wisdom left for us His Immaculate Bride….His One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church… the Holy Mother Church…A Church which He founded upon Peter: “And I say to you, You are Peter and upon this Rock I will build my Church and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it..” (Matthew 16:18) Knowing man’s inclinations, He gave us this tremendous gift to help us… to guide us, as we make our way through our days on earth.
Throughout the centuries many have followed this path of Truth and Light and have found their eternal reward with Our Blessed Lord in Heaven. Secondhandsainstblog is a kind of way, fashioned after the paths these daring souls have ventured. These Saints of the Holy Catholic Church…these soldiers in God’s great army of disciples. Some of whom created small ways to unite themselves to the Lord, while others went big and were all in…giving themselves completely to God and His work. There are many saints who were martyred for their Faith…for the Truth...those brave souls who united themselves with the Cross of Christ, and like Him, shed their blood, springing forth new growth in their Holy Mother… inspiring new great saints to carry on this Sacred Tradition of the One True Church.
Through Church teachings and writings and more importantly through use of the Sacred Scripture, we are guided and encouraged to become all that God has intended each of us to be. Whether we know it or not…the Lord knows each and every one of us…”Before I knit you in your mother’s womb, I knew you.” (Jeremiah 1:5) God is there for us every moment of every day…but most of the time we don’t listen…we don’t hear His silent whisperings in our hearts… His soft voice in our soul…and that is why He gave us the Church…to be the loud voice in the dark wilderness of the world…the steady voice that can help guide us…in all of our moments….large and small alike. Those moments of pure joy and ecstasy, but also those moments when we are overcome with sadness and despair. God is there….waiting….calling each of us….
This blog is a journey of a simple soul longing to unite itself with God, in all the daily struggles on earth…particularly in those mundane tasks that tend to bog us down and pull our gaze away from the Lord. In this journey I hope to unite myself with the history of these great saints, sharing them with you…in the hope that we may find comfort in their stories…courage in their success for the Church, but most importantly, that by following their examples… we may one day, find ourselves amidst all the Holy Saints in Heaven, standing in the very presence of the One Who created us and hear those words which each of us should long to hear…”Well done, my good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)
