Sometimes we try and fool ourselves into thinking that the little lies we tell others, will hurt no one. Sometimes, we change things around or we take something that we think no one will miss or that no one will be bothered by its absence… but they are.

And we tell those little lies….those little “white” lies that we have convinced ourselves are fine to tell. We think no one is getting hurt. But by allowing ourselves to dip in these pools of tiny untruths, we are conditioning our souls for failure. Failure to live in honesty and integrity. Failure to live, or to speak what is true.

We are tearing down the structure the Lord has given us as our foundation, His Word, His Truth. And slowly we start building ourselves inside these lies, these unsteady cobblestones. And soon we have created a windy path that stretches forwards and back. It crosses over and under, this way and that. By all human reasoning, it is confusing to follow. When we lie it is no longer the straight and narrow path.

When we look around we see chaos and disorder. We see a lack of trust where there should be solid, firm foundations. And we realize that lies do hurt, they erode the soul and the soul’s capacity to long only for the Truth. To long only for God Whom is the ultimate Truth.

Don’t kid yourself into thinking little lies are ok. Test yourself. Speak with charity. Act with kindness. But always live in the Truth.

I am not going to lie and say it is easy, it is a hard and arduous path to follow, but so worth the effort. Here is a quote that prompted me to write about the truth. It is far beyond anything I could ever pen. God bless you my friends, have a safe and wonderful 4th!
