Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus

Just a mere three days into the new year and the Holy Mother Church in all of Her eternal wisdom, guides us with the tenderness of a loving, devoted Mother, who is concerned with the well being of all of her children. For here we are, not yet a week into the new year and already we have celebrated the Blessed Ever Virgin Mary recognizing Her as the Mother of God. And today on this 3rd day of the year, the Holy Mother Church is directing our hearts and our minds to contemplating and celebrating the Holy Name of Jesus. Like the good and patient Mother, She gently nudges us towards what is good and holy. Encouraging us to resolutely begin the new year in the proper light.

Contemplating and meditating on the importance of both Blessed Mary and Jesus, is a sure fire way for us to refocus our efforts and begin the new year firmly on our path to sanctification, no matter how far we may have strayed from these endeavours in the previous year. This feast renews our focus and invites us to contiually remember and venerate the Holy Name of Jesus , for it is written “ … at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”.(Philippians chap. 2:10-11) So that God might plant in each of our hearts the love of Him Who is the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.

With renewed resolve, let us spend these coming days contemplating not only on this fresh Babe in the manger but also contemplating His Holy Name. Jesus. Repeating it often as a private personal prayer with the Lord. Jesus. But also repeating it as a means of combating the enemy who is prowling about the world hoping to catch us half asleep. But don’t allow yourself to be fooled. The devil must flee at the mere whisper of this Holy Name…Jesus…. no evil creature can stand idle by as this sweet Name of Jesus passes from your heart through your lips…..utter it often…keeping the sweet name intertwined within your very breath… Jesus, oh sweet tender Jesus…oh how we love Thee, from the very depths of our hearts... we love Thee.

Celebrating Mary as the Holy Mother of God

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,

that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection,

implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto you,

O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.

To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word incarnate, despise not my petitions,

but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

As the year 2022 begins its unfolding of days, let us as Catholics place our lives under the care of the Most Blessed Mother Mary, Mother of God and our Mother. Since we have just recently come out of the year of St. Joseph in December, Who better to invoke as we begin this new year than Holy Mary, Mother of God?

She is our number one advocte when it comes to Jesus. I have read that every grace we receive from the Lord comes to us through Mary! All of our prayers and our petitions go to the Lord, but come to us through Her! Do you understand?? It is through the Blessed Mother that we receive all of our graces! Of course God does not have to do this, but because He loves His Mother so much, He chooses to allow His Mother to dispose of all the heavenly graces as She sees best.

It is a message we have heard from many popes, saints and even from the Blessed Virgin Herself! After one of the apparitions  of the Blessed Mother at Fatima to the shepherd children, Jacinta told Lucia: Tell everyone that Our Lord grants us all graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary; that all must make their petitions to Her.”

Even though it is not an article of Faith, theologians and popes have written about Mary and Her role as “Mediatrix of all Graces.” In his Encyclical on the Rosary from Septmeber 22, 1891, Pope Leo XIII says:    “In a true and natural sense we may say that from the great treasury of graces that the Lord has merited for us, nothing came to us, by the will of God, except through Mary.”

St. Bernardine of Siena says that, “all graces of the spiritual life that descend from Christ, their Head, to the faithful, who are His mystical body, are transmitted by means of Mary… From the moment in which the Virgin Mother conceived the divine Word in Her womb, She acquired a special jurisdiction, so to say, over the gifts of the Holy Ghost; so that no creature has since received any grace from God, otherwise than by the hands of Mary… All gifts, all virtues, and all graces are dispensed by the hands of Mary, to whomsoever, when, and as She pleases… As God was pleased to dwell in the womb of this holy Virgin, She acquired, so to say, a kind of jurisdiction over all graces; for when Jesus Christ issued forth from Her most sacred womb, all the streams of divine gifts flowed from Her as from a celestial ocean.”Novena for Impossible Requests to Mother Mary & Jesus

So as we begin this new year, continuing in our desire to become saints, let us follow the most perfect model that ever was created, and let us rest our weary eyes upon the beautiful face of Our Dear Mother. Let us contemplate Her unique role in the salvation of the world. Let is open our hearts, which are full of sin and imperfections. In humble trust and love let us hand over everything to Her….everything… so that just as She does with everything else, She may take what us there and with the special Grace that has been given to Her from her Son let us watch as She takes all that we offer Her and make it worthy to be placed before Her Son, Our Lord and Our God. Let us pray:  O Clement, O loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary, Pray for us O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.  Amen.

The Seventh Day of Christmas- Come Let Us Rejoice

Reading I

Children, it is the last hour;
and just as you heard that the antichrist was coming,
so now many antichrists have appeared.
Thus we know this is the last hour.
They went out from us, but they were not really of our number;
if they had been, they would have remained with us.
Their desertion shows that none of them was of our number.
But you have the anointing that comes from the Holy One,
and you all have knowledge.
I write to you not because you do not know the truth
but because you do, and because every lie is alien to the truth.

This calander year is coming to its end, come let us rejoice! With tomorrow is the promise of a fresh start…a new year…. come let us rejoice! Even with all the scandals, all the plagues which have beseeched us through these past several years… come let us rejoice! With the threat of global wide chaos and governments run amuck with power… come let us rejoice!

For it is truly as it has been written, it is truly as it has been said, there will be many who will come to seperate us from the Truth, many an antichrist who will try their best to destroy what the good Lord has revealed to us as being Truth. As Christians….as believers in the God made-man, we have to rejoice in the knowledge that God is Truth. He cannot change from that Which He Is.  This knowledge coupled with what has been handed down from genenration to generation that is based on this Truth, this Tradition which is rooted in Christ. We must rejoice! We are a Christian people, Christ is Our Hope! We cannot allow ourselves for a moment to be deceived by what the world does….what the world tells us….for the world is a malicious breeding ground of contempt and lies…I implore you, dear friends, do not believe a word of what it says. Listen to the Lord….through His Immaculate Bride, the Holy Mother Church…keep your peace about you and rejoice, these days of Christmas are not quite done.

For unto us a Child has been born, and we can find Him lying in a manger, wrapped in swaddling clothes….He is the King of King! The Lord of Lords! Come let us rejoice!…Come let us adore Him!

St. Therese of Lisieux

Do you realize that Jesus is there in the tabernacle expressly for you-for you alone? He burns with the desire to come into your heart… don’t listen to the demon, laugh at him, and go without fear to receive the Jesus of peace and love…”

On this First Friday of October, let us turn on gaze for a moment on the life of a simple and holy young woman who gave her life completely to the Lord, St. Therese of Lisieux. As we continue to face turbulence from events in the world, let us copy this nun and let us cultivate a relationship with the Lord like that of a small child. A relationship that is humble, trusting and confident in God.

St. Therese lived her life by developing ‘the little way’ that helped her grow closer to the Lord. There are two fundamental convictions which she believed. The first one is that God shows love by mercy and forgiveness and secondly that she could not be ‘perfect’ in following the Lord. But she believed that all things should be done first and foremost with great love. Since God is Love, by imitating this love one would grow closer to the Lord. St. Therese applied these principles to her daily life, treating all of her sisters with this same love. The difficult ones as well as those she found compatible with herself. She sensed that everything that she was able to do, was only possible because of the generous love of God. She was convinced that at the end of her life, she would appear before the  Lord with empty hands because all that she had been able to accomplish was done in union with God. All of her goodness had come from Him, not one bit of it actually had belonged to her.

Sacerdotus: St. Therese of Lisieux

Catholics as well as other Christians have found St. Therese’s ‘Little Way’ a practice that puts holiness within their reach. Instead of some lofty weighty plan, with this ‘Little Way‘ we find that if we live out our days confident in God’s love for us, we are able to become a messenger of that love. If we recognize that each day is a gift in which we have the chance to make a difference in the world by how we choose to live, we can be a reflection of God’s love to those we meet. We can give life to God’s love. If we are able to overlook the faults of others and instead focus on what is good, we will do so much more for the Lord, by spreading His message of Love and forgiveness.

As we enter into this month dedicated to the holy rosary as well as to the sanctity of life, let us turn our prayers to St. Therese and ask for her intercession that we too may become messengers of God’s merciful love and conquer the world for Christ. Viva Cristo Rey!

October 1st – Month of the Holy Rosary

As the ticking of time pulls us into the next calendar page, the world continues to spin in her errors, spewing out lies, so much so, that the line which once distinctly separated  the truth from the lies is almost blurred beyond recognition. And the two separate realities are being peddled to the masses as being one and the same.  There is seldom any mention of this distortion, even from those who are entrusted to preach the Truth….

There is no longer any separation between what is true and what is false. In a world guided by man’s feelings, we are being led not by Truth, but rather man’s sense of moral relativism. It has become a battleground against  Absolute Truth. Everywhere one looks, we are being lied to. ‘Dis-information‘ is the  key word of the day and those who would like nothing better then to see the collapse of our society, keep  plugging away with the lies, twisting everything to fit their distorted narrative of wanting us to believe in what we know is false, and moreover, wanting for us to deny what we know to be the Truth.

We no longer have news agencies reporting the facts or even looking for the truth, instead we have propaganda machines intent on destroying the human person. In a society that espouses this so called ‘woke-ness’ of man, we can see how this ‘revelation‘or ‘enlightenment‘ is just another means used to enslave and entrap man. There is something much more sinister than mere oversight going on…something wicked this way comes… And that Something is hell bent and intent on destroying the very soul of man.

Those who have been placed in charge of hiding the truth, keep mixing the poison with the batter and feeding it everyone who is willing to take a bite. Many good people in their laziness eat out of this very pot! Most people don’t even realize what they are eating is literally crap. Much more foul than anything that could come out of the back end of a mule, but the people keep on eating… piling it in…. Trying to fill the emptiness that is within them… In desperation, they keep on believing the lies that are being told to them, being sold to them. Because they have been drained of their ability to discern the Truth it is proving to be an easy task. It is a deviously clever plan.

Not only are our souls at stake, but the very blood of our children is being offered as a sacrifice to appease these satanic beasts. So,Why don’t we do anything? Have we grown so accustomed to our lukewarmness that we have forgotten what is right and good? Do we not even recognize evil? Nor recognize the Truth? As faithful Catholics, moreover, as the Church Militant on earth, we have got to stop ‘just doing’ to get along. We have got to put up a struggle and speak the Truth. We have got to put up a fight against the lies that are being forced on each of us. We have to take a stand against this evil.

October is the perfect month to remind us what being catholic is about. October is celebrated as Respect Life Month to remind us all to pray for the sanctity of life. From conception until our natural end. We don’t need any compromise here. As Catholics and Christians we can’t continue to compromise away the very souls of the unborn. We cannot continue to turn away as they shove tubes and poisons into our aged loved ones. We have got to speak up. Far too many have died because of our silence. We have danced this dance with the devil for far too long. It is time to call the children home. But we cannot do this alone. We need supernatural help…

October is also the Month of the Holy Rosary. There is no better weapon than the holy rosary to rein in the evil that is spinning the world out of control. We must actively respond to the pleas of the Blessed Mother when she requested, on numerous occasions, that the faithful pray the rosary everyday. I know some of you will say that the Lord has already won. That Christ died on the Cross and saved us. But check it out, this is how the Lord wins. This is how evil will be combated. With His Mother! We can not fight this evil on our own. It won’t be done. We must rely on the Lord’s own Blessed Mother. Why do you think He gave Her to all mankind? She is our Mother… Our Mom… She is our’s. Her heart is our home… If you belong to the Lord, you are Her’s. That’s just how it is.

Step Five - Most Holy Rosary | Children of the Eucharist

Now that you know this, Do not be afraid to ask Her for anything. She is a Mother who will do anything out of love for Her Son. So don’t be afraid, ask away!  We are facing some very troubling times in our country and we need to remember that with Our Blessed Mother’s help, many of the present dangers can be avoided. Do not fall into the trap of believing that prayer won’t accomplish anything. Throughout history there have been many times when a bad situation was averted due to the prayers of the faithful. And the rosary is one of the most powerful tools we have available to us. Make some time each day to pray, to ask the Blessed Mother for her protection, for her guidance. Sanctify your day with prayer. You do not have to dedicate hours for this, any time you have a moment, ask the Lord or Our Dear Mother for help. ‘Jesus, I trust in You’, is a simple yet, effective prayer during the busy times. If you can, offer a quick ‘Hail Mary’ to sanctify whatever moment you are in. These simple prayers can make the ordinary, extraordinary. Bring Mary into your day, into the moments of your day, and you can be a part of accomplishing great things.

"Behold your Mother" | Blessed Mother | Pinterest

I know, I didn’t go into all the details. But this is true, when Jesus was dying on the Cross, working out the salvation of man, She was already a part of that plan! That is why He gave Her to John. He was giving Her to all of us! He wants us to love Her … She is after all His beloved daughter, spouse and Mother! The Lord is truly happy when we pray our rosary, when we offer our prayers asking for Her intercession. Remember, Mary shouldn’t become a stumbling block to Christ, but rather, She should pave the way to loving the Lord. She is a path to Jesus, and during this month of the Holy Rosary, place your heart in Her hands and through your prayers allow Her to guide you closer to Her Son. If all the faithful Catholics prayed as She asked and loved Her as we should, the world would be as it should! As Saint Maximilian Kolbe said, “Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much, you can never love Her more than Jesus did.” Stay faithful my friends, and with Mary’s help, may we have the courage to not only live out Christ’s Truth, but fight for It as well. Viva Cristo Rey!

September 13th – Feast of St.John Chrysostom

As we approach the mid point of this month of September, we meet St. John Chrysostom, bishop and Doctor of the Church. His name ‘Chrysostom’ was actually given to him after his death and it means ‘Golden mouthed.’ He was able to find God’s message in everything. He was able to apply the Scripture message to everyday circumstances. He had the ability to preach and to teach the people how to incorporate the Gospel into their everyday living. To make the ordinary extraordinary…

This is exactly the same message we need today. We need to incorporate the Gospel into every moment of everyday. We need to stop compartmentalizing our faith into those scattered moments of prayer or when we have the chance to go to Mass. Those are great, but we need to live the Gospel… live our faith every moment of every day.  I know... this is much easier said than done. Our days our busy and they are hectic.  Most of our waking moments are spent out in a secular world, and many days it takes all that we have, just trying to maintain an attitude of Christian love towards our families let alone everyone else.

It is an angry world. One that chews and spits Christians out on a regular basis. Just flip through any history book and the story is the same. There were pits of lions, vats of boiling oil, even dungeons that Christians have frequently been tossed into and forgotten about. The violence we are living in is nothing new.  Even though the violence is escalating around the world, most of us in America haven’t felt any sort of repercussions for practicing our faith, yet. But time will tell, and the world is constantly changing. Unfortunately the Truth is getting harder and harder to discern. The lips of both evil and ‘good’ men speak of lies, and we are to believe these words? … As Christians we must maintain an air of peace within our souls and pray to discern everything that comes from man. God will help us, but we must place our trust in Him. Do not be fooled by the cleverness of man. We have come upon that day when the lies will be more believed than the Truth…We have begun the descent.. and it is a slippery slope at that! So hang on!

Remember, God has chosen each one of us to live in these times. We have been called to raise our families, and to live the Faith. Precisely at this moment in time. Do not delay for  we have much to do and much to protect. It is a struggle worth battling for. One we won’t be able to do alone. Only with God’s help (and of course Our Lady!) will we be able to stand firm when the evil one raises his head towards us. We have got to become familiar with what we are fighting for. We have got to learn our faith so that we can live that Faith…. God’s Words have got to be our way of life… Do you understand? We have got to find a way to live the Gospel message every moment…. of every day.

God has plans for us that we cannot even begin to imagine. We have got to understand that there is more to us than what we see. Far more…. I am going to leave you with a couple of St. John Chrysostom’s quotes that you may read and meditate upon. Until next time my friend, may God bless you and keep you in His care. Viva Cristo Rey!

September 12, 2021- 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Mark 8: 27- 35

Gospel of Mark 8:27-35

Jesus and his disciples set out for the villages of Caesarea Philippi. Along the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” They said in reply, “John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others one of the prophets.” And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?”  Peter said to him in reply, “You are the Christ.”

Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him. He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and rise after three days. He spoke this openly. Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. At this he turned around and, looking at his disciples, rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.”

He summoned the crowd with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will save it.”

As the assault from certain political leaders and ‘medical’ experts continues, we must not allow ourselves to be fooled by those who wish to destroy us and rob us of our God given rights. We must stand firm in the Truth. The Truth that was revealed to mankind through the teachings of Jesus Christ. When darkness descends upon the world, and everywhere we look, we are confronted with lies, we must not give up our hope in the true message that Jesus gave.

We must remember that we are no longer slaves of this world, for with His Sacrifice and Resurrection He freed us from death. He freed us from the threat of eternal darkness and damnation. He showered us with Light… cleansing us, He showered us with Truth.

Be not afraid. Jesus has told us that we are created for far greater things than this world can ever provide. We mustn’t allow our fear of death or disease allow us to be led away from the Gospel’s Truth. Do not allow your fear to rob you of your eternal life. ” For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will save it.” Stay true to the teachings of the Lord my friends, and don’t let the world persuade you to do anything less. God bless.

January 1st – The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God

As people around the world ring in the new year with parties, fireworks and perhaps a toast or two, we should not forget that there is something far more important to celebrate than the changing of the calendar year. January 1st is the Solemnity of Mary, The Holy Mother of God. The name Solemnity reminds us of the importance the Church puts upon this day. A solemnity is the highest rank of the liturgical celebrations. It is more important than a memorial, or even a feast day. It is a day set aside to remind us of the importance that Mary played in role of our salvation. Without her fiat…without her yes, God’s plan would not have been made possible.

We should not only be celebrating the new year which God is giving us, and all of the promises of a brighter future that are inspired in us, but we should celebrate the fact that Mary, the Mother of God is our mother as well. She is here to comfort each of us and help guide us on our daily path. She will intercede for us and seek out graces to shower upon us. She is an active Mother and loves each of us as She loved her Son. She never stopped saying yes to the Lord, and wishes only to help guide us to love Jesus more and more, so that imitating her, we might also give God our yes .This is not something made up, it has been handed down through the history and teachings of the Church:

“Mary, the all holy and ever virgin Mother of God, is the masterwork of the mission of the Son and the Spirit in the fullness of time.” For the first time in the history of time, God had not only found a dwelling place, but He had prepared that dwelling place where His Son and His Spirit could dwell among men.” ( CCC 721)

So as the new year rings in and the fireworks fade, remember that this Solemnity is a holy day of obligation for most of us. And even if you are in an area where the obligation has been lifted, please spend some time in prayer contemplating this great title of Our Lady, and the importance of Her role in the salvation of all mankind. Happy New Year and Happy Solemnity…may God bless us all this coming New Year. Stay courageous my friends… God has plans for each of us.

First Friday of November 2020

Catholic News World : What is 1st Friday Devotion to the Sacred Heart - Consecration to the #SacredHeart of Jesus - 1st Friday Promises and Instructions - Prayers - Share!

As we head into this third day of vote harvesting and counting, we begin to understand that as a whole, the world has lost its collective mind. But it is not only here in America where we are witnessing an utter abuse of the electoral process, worldwide countries are going back into full lock-down due to the ‘second wave of the pandemic’. And on top of all of that, we are witnessing an increase in violence against Christians in nations that were once bedrocks of the Christian Faith. Unfortunately, with each passing day, I truly believe that we have entered into the time of which St. Anthony the Great spoke about when he said:

“A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him, saying, “You are mad; you are not like us.”

Of course, I am mostly referring to the media and the onslaught of lies that are being fed to us every moment of every day. Their agenda is so painfully clear. There is a desire among evil men to destroy not only our country, but also to destroy the world, more specifically, a desire to destroy all that is good and holy. Yet, even with all that is going on, we mustn’t forget that this the time in which God has called each of us to live.

I know that there are many of you out there with stories of conversion similar or more dramatic than my own, I know that you understand that God has called you out of the clutches of the world. A world now drunk on the fermenting lies of the evil one. We are living in a world which has lost sight of its rightful Master. Still we mustn’t fret and lose sight of the Truth which is Jesus Christ. Besides, if we allow our gaze to shift from the Lord, we risk falling into despair… and that is not a risk we should be willing to chance. It is a very somber picture that awaits for us on the horizontal. We must keep our eyes on the vertical, we must look up to Christ. Not only must we gaze upon the Cross, we must muster up the courage to embrace the Cross. The very Cross from which Christ poured His blood on all the world to save us. Lastly, we mustn’t forget that we are not made for this world, it is an angry beast that wishes only to devour and destroy our peace… Remember… We were made for far greater things… we are children of the Lord… not of the world. When they stand and mock you, throwing insults and stones, remember, they hated Christ first.

199.) Luke 18 | DWELLING in the Word

During this continuation of difficult days that stretch before us, do not grow weary and lose hope. God is our Hope. Christ is our Salvation. We must pray. We must assist at the Sacrifice of the Mass while we still can. Who knows if another lock down is in our future. Regardless of the outcome of the vote. Regardless of the outcome of the virus, we must pray. Ask God for His Mercy, His guidance and His strength. We can not do this on our own, our strength will fail us… every time. We must rely on Him alone. He has called us, each one of us. So stand firm. Do not let your heart grow weary. Do not take your eyes off of the promise that Christ gave us from the Cross. It is the only Truth that matters when everything else is gone. It is the Truth that will set us free. Stay strong my friends, and May God bless each one of us.

First Friday of August 2020

The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus « custodinosdormientes

On this first Friday of August as the world continues its downward spiral of chaos and despair, we mustn’t lose hope in God. Even amid all the continuous news of new ‘co-vid’ related deaths and erupting violence, we mustn’t lose faith … Even as we stare with heavy hearts at the devastating pictures of utter destruction coming out of Lebanon, we mustn’t lose hope in the Lord.

In fact, it is precisely at times like these that we need Him more. During these uncertain times, we should be making God the priority in our day. If we are to hope to get through what is coming around the bend, we mustn’t hesitate in our resolve… we must turn back to God… We cannot continue on this path of destruction, without God. What else is there?

As we watch the continuous cycle of news… with one bad story immediately after the next, what else will get you through? Where else will you gain your strength when everything around is crumbling? God is calling each of us. He is our peace, our hope and our strength. On this first Friday of August as the news of the world gets bleaker and bleaker…. look to the Lord. He is waiting there in the Eucharist. Waiting to touch your heart. Waiting to heal all the wounds the world has thrown at you. God is love. He is mercy. He is peace. Allow Him to heal your wounded soul. Make it a good first Friday my friends.

Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, O Lord,
Lamb of God who takest away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
V. Jesus, meek and humble of Heart.
R. Make our hearts like unto Thine.

Let us pray

Almighty and Everlasting God, look upon the Heart of Thy Well-Beloved Son and upon the acts of praise and satisfaction which He renders unto Thee in the name of sinners; and do Thou, in Thy great goodness, grant pardon to them who seek Thy mercy, in the name of the same Thy Son, Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with Thee, world without end.

AMEN.
